HIGHER PRICES FOR FIBRE. Flaxmillen have matters much their own way ju«t now, the market being all in their favour. There has been a series of strong advances in the price of Manila, which fact has materially hardened the price of the New Zealand fibre. Australian manufacturers of binder twine have hitherto been able to declare' their prices for the season, and to adhere to them all through, but the Manila shortage, combined with the heavy American demand, has caused ati unexpected development. Merchants' prices to New Zealand millers to-day, for delivery up to March next, were as follow : — Good fair grade, £27 per ton; high point fair, £26 6s per ton; and low point fair, £26 per ton. Tow was in demand at £12 per tori for No. 1 grade, and £11 5s for No. 2.
