WIN FOR SHUJA. fey Teteirnph.— Prast A»M»iatl6n,-Cowrl(ibt>. SYDNEY, 9th October. At Randwick to-day the weather was fine but cool, and the attendance quite satisfactory for an off day. The track was in excellent condition. The following are the results :— Second Hurdle Race, a sweepstake of 6 soys, with 300 bovb added j two miles and a-half.— Warwidgerie, 1L.4, 1; Paisano, 13. fy 2; Cannon . Wheel, 9.12, 3. There were fourteen starters, including Black Northern, Reumae, Don Qu«x, and John. Paisano, judiciously handled by Jones, made a good effort to over* haul Warwidgerie, but failed by a length. Time, 4mm 49 3-ssec. Craven Plate, a sweepstake of 10 iovs, with 2000 soys added} one mile and aquarter.—Duke Foote 4 0.4, 1 , Trafalgar, 2}2 } Cisco, 3. Also Btarted : Gigandra, Cadonia, Beverage, Popiniay, Cider, and Aunfer. Popinjay, Beverage, and Lisco made the early running, but at the mile post Aurifer took second place, followed by Gigandra, with Duke Foote second last. Six furlongs from home the !$ ftl J m ? P°»Hton were unchanged, bat Cadoma was tailed off. At the halfmile Popinjay and Aurifer were three lengths out from Cider, but Duke Foote was next, and then had the race in head. Ho and Trafalgar were at the head of affairs as they entered the straight, and then the latter, under the whip, could make no impression on Dnke Foote, who won easily. Oider was fourth and Auri' fer last. Time, 2min 6 l-sseo. Gimerack Stakes, a sweepstake of 10 soys, with 500 soys added; four furlongs and a-half .— Beragoon, 8.0, ,1 5 Ath&nic, 2 5 Larelle, 3. Niheteen Btarted t including the New Zealanders Adelima and Beau Soult. Won by two lengths. Time, 554 sec. Sydney Handicap, a sweepstake of 10 soys each, with 760 soys added; ona mile and a half.— Messrs. R. J. and H. D. Matthews's br h Shuja, by Soult— Sprite, aged, 7.2 (C. Emerßon), 1 ; Mutilate*, 6.10, 25 Ziber, 7.7, 3. Twelve started. Shuja and Zilper led past the Btand 2 with N.S.W. whipping the field. There was little alteration to the sixfurlongs post, where Shuja was a length clear of Zilper. Then came Walte, Matouree, and Odist. Making the rtradghl, Shuja was going easily in front of Olive Green, Zilper, and Matouree. At the distance Shuja came away, and won by five lengths. Zilper was two lengths away. Barlow and Odist were next, and N.S.W. last. Time, 2min 33sec.
