Hart, who recently met with a serious accident while aeroplaning, is regaining his memory, and his wounds are healing. JAPANESE STEAMER SUBSIDY. TOKIO, 21st September. The Government will not renew the subsidy at present paid to the Nippon Yusen Kaisha's Australian steamship line, but will add it to the subsidy for the same company's service to Calcutta, in which six Vessels are engaged. MISHAPS TO AIRSHIPS. LONDON, 22nd September. During the army manoeuvres, the airship Beta met with a mishap through the breaking of her end bearings, and had to descend for repairs. When the voyage was resumed a leak in the petrol tank was discovered, causing further delay. A POSEN SENSATION. BERLIN, 21st September. The widow of Dr. Blume, arrested at Posen, has confessed that she shot her husband in a moment of exasperation on learning that he had obtained from her clandestine lover a written confession of the lover's guilty relationship with her. Dr. Blume, a young educationist, was supposed to have sho.t himself accidentally, and the arrest of his widow caused a sensation in Posen. NEWSBOY'S SACRIFICE. NEW YORK, 22nd September. At Gary, Indiana, William Rugh, a newsboy, will permit the amputation of his crippled leg for skin-grafting purposes to save the life of Mies Ethel Smith, a girl whom the boy ha« never Seen, the doctors having stated that the girl would not recover from burns she had sustained without skin to cover the wounds. BOXING CONTEST. NEW YORK, 22nd September. In & boxing contest at Walsenburg, Colorado, "Frankie" White, of Chicago, beat "Mike" Malone, of Denver, in fifteen rounds. The number of divorces in Prussia rose from 6500 in 1899 to 14,600 in 1911 Twenty per cent, of the births in Berlin and nearly 30 in Munich were of illegitimates.
