V.M.C.A. OLD BOYS' CLUB
A concert was given by the 013 Boys' Club of the V.M.C.A. in the large assembly hall on Thursday evening. The first portion of the programme was com* posed of elocutionary items and singing, the contributors being— Messrs. F Q Atkinson, W. Millier, R. Parton, H. Patchetfc, L. Jones, J. Lennox, M. Mathieson, R. Baker, C. Foster, E Charters, G. Baker, D. Evans, W. Jennings, and the Old Boys' Club (chorus). In the latter portion 1 of the programme the 0.8.C. Shakesperian troupe acted (in costume) the trial scene from "The Merchant of Venice." The misery of Shylock losing his "pound of flesh" 'was portrayed by Mr. H. Patchett, while tho other characters were well sustained. K. Shorney's interpretation of "Portia" was excellent. The evening was concluded by the "Nigger Minstrel" party, who kept tho audience amused for forty minutes.
