OMINOUS WEATHER FORECAST

■ «»■■ The- weather forecast issued to-day is rather ominous. The barometer is very much below normal everywhere, especially in the South, and heavy westerly gales are now changing to southerly. Much rain was reported this morning in many parts of the Dominion, and rivers in Westland and Marlborough were flooded. Snow has fallen in the high country in the South, but not as much as may be expected in the near future, Stormy weather is predicted generally, with heavy rain in most parts of the Dominion, and the temperature will be colder. We are to expect thunderstorms in some parts of the country, and it is very probable there will be hail and sleet in the Southern districts.
