BOOKBINDERS & PAPER RULERS
The New Zealand Bookbinders and Paper Rulers' Society has filed particulars: of a dispute with the employers of the Wellington Industrial District. The union %&ks for a working week of 48 hours, the regulation to be mutually agreed upon. The minimum wage for competent journeymen, who are required to work the full forty-eight hours, shall be £3 10s per week. If a journeyman is employed casually (that is, for less than a week's continuous employment) he shall be paid not lets than time and atliird per hour. Provision is also made in the demands for overtime, holidays, under-rate workers, apprentices, and preference to unionists. Messrs. Win. Naughton, Wm. Burns, and C. Johnston are nominated as the union's representatives before the Conciliation Councd. The following dates have been fixed by the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. P. Hally) for consideration of the dispute :— l2th August, Wellington j 16th August, Napieij 19th August, Palmerstcn North.
