A point affecting half the life insurance policies in New Zealand was raised ia the Supreme Court in. the case, Thomp'Bon versus Blythe. Defendant was a beneficiary in her late eon's estate, consisting wholly of an endowment policy maturing at the age of 60 years. 'Plaintiff, to whom deceased owed £18, cued for the amount. Mr. Mackay argued for defendant that the policy was protected. Mr. Treadwell, for plaintiff, contended that protection did not apply, as the policy' was not for the whole life. Mr. Justice Cooper reserved his decision, but stated tjiat at present he thought tha policy was protected. The Act, how•ver, needed careful construing.
