POULTRY SHOW

GOOD ALL ROUND ENTRY FINE SHOW OF CANARIES. People interested in poultry and cage bird fanciers will find much to interest them in the annual exhibition of the Wellington Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Society, which is being held in St. Peter's Schoolroom. The show of canaries is especially good, there being no lees than 300 entries. In addition to the. special prizes mentioned in The Poßt yesterday, Mr. C. Brattle, of Ngaio, won outright the fanciers' cup for most points in black rosecomb bantams. The special ■ prize for the best gold or silver Hamburg in the show went to Mr. Curd, Hastings. Mr. J. Curried gold medal for the best bantam in the show was won by Mr. T. Wilkinson (Uhrist- ■ church). The Foglia and Copp trophy -for the best oriental frill (pigeon) wag won by Mr. J. Goer. Messrs. T. -Jameson and F. Murphy monopolised the prizes for modern game; and Messrs. J. Currie. J. D. Iremonger, and R. Wanden won all the prizes for Wyandottes. In addition, Mr. Iremonger won a ten-guinea trophy for the best bird in six different classes. Mr. Iremonger also secured all the premier awards for Leghorns. The prizes in the utility classes for Leghorns went to Messrs. Tonks, ' Collins, and Lowin. Tho pigeons are a fin© class. Messrs. M'Kenzio and Ashworcb got premier- honours for pouters, and Messrs. T. Bullock and H. W. Littlejohn top awards for homers. W. B. M'Kenzie did well with his exhibits in the class for owls. Tfyo prizes for dragoons wero well distributed ' between H. B. Gould T. Bullook, and C. R. Foote. H. W. M'Kenzie was well to the fore in tho tumbler class, and A. Fraser also secured several premier awards. Mr. A. M. Austin secured the chief awards for fantails. J. Goer, G. E. Hales, and A- M. Grenside were success^ f ul _in the magpie classes, Mr. Goer es« pecially so. ' The working homer prizes, were chiefly distributed * between Messrs. J. H. Clark, P. W. Lamb, J. G. Elliott, A. E. Cole, and R. W. Dixon. The exhibit of canaries is a most interesting one, practically every variety being largely represented. In the space a,t our disposal it is impossible to give the names .of all the prize winners! T. Wilkinson (Christchurch), D. Murphy (Wellington), J. Eyder (Wellington), J. Cornwall (Auckland), E. Galliohan (Wellington), W. Cumming (Auokland), L. Penrose (Christchurch) and Mrs. John" Martin were amongst the principal exhibitors who secured many of the leading awards. Several special prizes have yet to be allotted. The show is really well worth a visit.
