■WANGANUI, 12th June. The Borough Council election to-day resulted in the peturn of Messrs. Williams, Liffiton, and Knuckey. A proposal to raise a'loan of £7000 for a reservoir was carried. DUNEDIN, 12th June. At a meeting of the Otago Land Board to-day a motion was passed expressing the opinion that very httle trafficking in Cfown lands goes on in Otago. In tho matter of goodwill that may appear excessive, the_ board is of opinion that it is practically powerless. It approves of the proposal to hold a conference of the land boards of the Dominion., " AUCKLAND, 12th Jun«. jln reply to a request made by the Hikurangi Miners* Union, the directors of tho Hikurangi ' Company have consented to a conference, which will be held on Friday morning at the Auckland office of the company. HAWERA, 12th June. The third annual ( Dominion Dairy Show was opened this afternoon by Mr. G. V. Pearce, M.P., in the unavoidable absence' of the Prime Minister. The entries total 1208, as against 1169 last year. There is a remarkably fine exhibition cf cheese, and a good exhibition of butter; also a splendid display by. tb* Agricultural Department.
