SCHOOL COMMITTEE ' OBJECTS. [BX TELEGRAPH — SPECIAL TG^TS! POST.] AUCKLAND, This Day. The Tefusal of the Auckland Education Beard to grant school dbmmittees the right of final selection in the appointment of teachers was discussed at a meeting of the City Schools Committee. The chairman (Mr. F. E. N. Gauddn) said thai the board, by its action, was really contravening the Education Act, which said that not more than four names should be submitted to the committee, besides stating that the committee must be consulted. Sir John Findlay had stated that it was legal to Eend along one name only, but he felt that they ought to test the law on the matter. Mr. J. F. Pullen said that a declaratory judgment from a Supreme Court Judge was the most inexpensive and satisfactory means of getting an opinion. Mr. Gaudin said that an Association of Commitees was being formed and they' hoped to make their voice heard when tho time cam* for voting.
