POTATO MARKET STEADIES. Tho New Zealand Farmers' Co-opera-tive Distributing Company, Ltd., reports to-day that the potato market is steadier, now that stocks held hero aro lower. Southern 6ollers are, however, still eager to force sales, and the supply is very free. Onions are in good demand for specially good lots; others slow. Fresh eggs are considerably weaker, and preserved aro also clow of salo. Porkers are coming into the market freely, and prices art* blightly easier. Butter is in keen demand. W& are supplying barley meal in place of pollard, which we considor has now risen above its feeding value as compared to this meal. For pigs wo advise Partridge peas os by far the cheapest food available. Very little chaff is offering, but we believe prices will weaken shortly. Grains are unchanged. Demand is good for both apples and pears, and larger supplies could be taken by tho market. Cauliflowers^ are higher, as also cabbage whero quality is good, ttwodos aro in fair demand for limited quantity. Marrows and pumpkins aro somewhat higher. Vegetable*. — Potatoes, £5 to £5 10s per ton; onions, £8 to £9 per ton; cabbage, Is 6d to 2s per sack; carrots, 3s 6d to 4s per sack; cauliflower, choice, 7s 6d to 8s per sack; marrows, 4s to- 4s 6d_per sack; swedea, 2s per cwt; turnips, white, Is per sack; lettuce, fair, Is 6d to 2s per case; pumpkins, Ss 6d to 4s per sack. Fruit. — Grapes, local, Is Id per lb; apples, cooking, 4s 6d to 5s 6d per case; apples, dessert, 6s to 8s per ease; pears, dessert, 4s to 4s 6d; cooking, 3s half -case. Provisions. — Cheese, best factory mediums 7d, loaf 7id per lb; butter, separator Is, milled lid to ll^d, dairy lid per lb ; eggs, fresh Is 9d per dozen ; preserved eggs, Is 2d per dozen; dressed pork, 70's to 90's sad to 6d, 9Q'b to 100's s£d, baooners 5d to sid, choppers -{heavy) 3d, slips 6d, euckers 7d per lb ; bacon, factory sides 9d, rolls 92d, hams 9d per lb in c/s lots; honey, 4&d to 5% per lb;''beeswax, Is 4d to Is £>d pur lb ; fungUß, 3^d per ib; tallow (tins) 23s cwt. Poultry. — Cockerels 4s 6d Tio 5s for good birds, table roosterß 4s, table hens 3s to 4b 6d, ducks 5s to 6s per pair, turkey gobblers 9d per lb, hens 8d per lb live weight, turkeys in good demand.
