OTAKI NOTES.
[BX TELEGBAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.] OTAKI, This Day. At the statutory meeting of the Otaki Road Board Warden J. V. Howell , was elected chairman. now members present were: Messrs. M'Kegg, Crabb, Jtiildreth, and Drake. Messrs. Hildretn and D'Atu wern appointed a finance dbmrnittee; Messrs. Best and D'Ath to sign the rate-book; and Mr. Mark Ayre, clerk and rate collector. The roadman submitted a report of necessary metalling to be done, while Mr. Drake suggested improved road conditions at Waikawa and N. Manakau. It was decided to ask the Railway Department to proceed at once with the erection of a subway at Manakau. The local bowling green is being topdressed, some twenty yards of splendid sou beinfr utilised for the purpose. The green, once in order, should prove equal to anything on the coast. Mrs. A. o. S. Thomson, who recently underwent a very , serious operation in a private hospital in Wellington "13 making good progress. A presentation is to be made to Mr. W. H. Field. ox-M.P., here to-morrow afternoon. Much enthusiasm is' being displayed.
