There was a danger of men. becoming fascinated with the terrible machinery of war, but if two great nations engaged in war, they wonld' bo heartily sick of it before it was finished. Tho best way to make war impossible was to make victory certain. The Prime Minister (Right Hon. H. H. Asquith) alluding to th© eale of Rembrandt's pictures, urged increasing cooperation of private generosity and the State. Sir Edward John Poynter (President of tho Royal Academy) advocated A register giving a nation first refusal over purchases of pictures. \
