ANOTHER RAILWAY DEPUTATION. Replying to a Wairarapa railway deputation this afternoon, the Hon. A. M. Myers said there hod been come new matter introduced into the question 'of train arrangements in the Wairarapa, and he would refrain from making comment at present until he had had an opportunity of consulting tho chief officers of the Department. It Avas essential that there should be a, policy having regard to the business requirements of tho country. It would be a policy to give every facility to all classes and trades. A monopoly had ith 'responsibilities to tho people. As far as the Department was concerned, it would bo desirable to place no obstacles in tho way of thneo who wa-ntcd to send their produce to the market. He was surprised to hoar of the time required to Eend goods from Wellington to Masterton, and vice versa, and he would take stepb to have that rectified. Delays in the stopping a.t stations should be shortened. The department would go into the matter, and give a reasonable period of stops at each, station. A reasonable period would bo allowed, and tho train, would move off. (Hear, hear.) The deputation could bo -assured that tho policy was progression and not retrogression. _ Ho wouid go into the. question of removing the refreshment rooms from Kaitoke to the Summit. Ho would give instructions for the name Purakau to re.placo Solway, and he would aho look into the matter of train arraugemonts at show time.
