ANOTHER LYSOL VICTIM
According to Dr. W. K. Fyffe, at the inquest on James Bourke at the Morgue (Dr. M'Arthur, City Coroner, presiding), deceased's stomach contained probably four ounces of lyeol. The cause of death, he said, was eyncope; due to lysol poisoning. Deceased was an emaciated old man (he was 63 years; of age). Convicted for drunkenness at the Mount Cook Police Court yesterday morning, Bourke was taken to the gaol, collapsed on arrival, and died shortly after. None of the- gaol and Mount Cook police officials knew that deceased had taken lysol, and had no idea where he could have obtained it. None was kept at Mount Cook, and the officer who conducted Bourke to the gaol stated that deceased was never out of hi? sight, and had nothing of the kind on hun. A verdict wa6 returned in accordance with the medical testimony. The Coroner added that the lysol was self-adminis-tered, but there was no evidence- as to where d2ceased had obtained it.
