DOMINION BOY; SCOUTS.

At Easter several scout expeditions provided valuable training. Kelburn©' troop made ior Te Kamru, spending the nights in station quarters. There were in all twenty-six who made the journey. Every boy returned to town with a rabbit caught by tlfo troop. Photographs were taken. Scones, pudding,' and rabbit stew wore some of th* things cocked. Expeditions were made into the surrounding hills. A fine concert was got up on Saturday night. AU returned thoroughly satisfied. Thorndon, St. Peter's, and Kilbirnie troops went under canvas at Seatoun, Scoutmaster Clark being in charge. Useful experience was gained. The thanks of these' troops are due to Mr. Richards for the use of hh grounds. A small party of scout officers broke new ground in the heart of the Rimutaka ranges. Serviceable knowledge was obtained for future use. The ridges, spurs, and hilltops traversed embraced dense scrub, burnt timber, open bush, heavy timber dwarf growth, and cl«af tops. Wild goat and pig and pigeon, kaka, tui, fantail, warbler, and other birds were plentiful. As was expected, this journey dees not lend itself to a picnic outing, but levies much toll on patience and inusclo and resource. Map and compass were freely used, while here and there observations from the tops became necessary. Scout officers and ex-scout officers met last week and discussed the- arrangement's for the visit, of the Chief Scout. A committee was set up to report to a later meeting. Kelburno troop ha« a magazine hi which to record the doings of its members. N Island Bay troop had a very successful concert last night. Ladies and friends interested in the trcop provided an excellent programme. The scout items were good. The District Commander presided. Mr. Styche, who was the first scoutmaster at Brooklyn, and one of the oldest Wellington officers, has again taken up his residence at Brooklyn. Mr' M'Lean, wl;o had charge of Roscneath, would like to hear from old boys. The 1 * is a likelihood of the accession of several officers in the near future.
