No information regarding the arrival of the barque Melbourne from \Lelth is available. , "Glenoorra."— The population of New Zealand on the 31»t> December iaßfc, exclusive of Maoris and Cook Islands residents, wiw 1,025,406. The Maori population on that date was 49,814. Half-castes living with the Maoris are counted as Maoris, but are counted &a Europeans when they are living with Europeans.
