FOXTON WATERSIDE WORKERS
NEW AGREEMENT. An agreement has been arrived at as to conditions of work and wages between the New Zealand Employers' Federation and the Foxton Waterside Workers and General Labourers' Union as to work on the Foxton wharf. Following are the main provisions: — Hours of work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,^exclusive of meal hours, 12 noon to 1 p.m. ; Saturday, 8 a.m. tonoon. Wages. — Ordinary time, Is 6d per hour; overtime to 10 p.m., 2s 2d ; overtime from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., 2« 3d. Coal work, ls.Bd per hour, with overtime to 10 p.m., 2e 6d ; overtime, 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., 2s 7d. Work on Sundays, Christmas Day, and Good Friday, to be paid for at the rate of double overtime. The overtime rato for work done between midnight on Sundays and 8 a.m. on Mondays • shall be double the ordinary rat* for the class of work the men are • engaged at. Men shall also work on Saturday afternoon, .if required to do so, on payment of thu 'appropriate overtime rates set out in the agreement. Preference to unionist*! is provided • for. The agroenulnt i« to come into force to-day (Ist Apiil), tnd to continue in force until 31et January, 1914.
