WELLINGTON LIEDERTAFEL ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Wellington Liedertafel was helcf last evenLnj;. .Mr. James Stephens presiding. The aci.' ..a.* for the year ending 29th February showed a marked improvement in the financial position of the society, which has during the past three years reduced its liabilities from £205 to £18 4s 6d, thus being the amount of the deficiency which last eeason's working shows, according to the balance-sheet presented and confirmed last night. The officers of the liedertafel were then elected as follows ; — President, Mr. A. L. Herdman, M.P. ; vice-prebidentb^ Messrs. F. Grady, A. Gray, A. Macintosh, F. V. Waters, James Stephens, D. Jackson, J. B. Harcourt, and G. H. Bannister; hon. conductor, Mr. Robert Parker; hon. sec. and treasurer, Mr. W. D. Gorhain ; hon. librarian, Mr. G. Parsons; hon. auditor, Mr. C. Hawson ; hon. pianist, Mr. Eno Water*-; committee, Messrs. Hugh Wright and W. Warren, and Rev. A. W. H. Ccnipton. It was decided that in future, instead of four concert* the Liedertafel will give three in each season, and subscribing members should receive four tickets for each conceit. Jt was also resolved that a secondary subscription of 10s per annum should be establibhed, entitling each member co subscribing to two tickets for each concert, and that a strong endeavour should be made to augment the present subscribers' list. It was pointed out during the meeting that the Liedertafel concerts give such genuine pleasure, that the society's efforts in keeping alive the art of unaccompanied part-singing deserved a much greater measure- of support than Wellington people accord to it. The Liedertafel has now resumed practice and it.« firtt concert will probably bogiven during May.
