DOMINION MUSEUM.
■ m ' THE PROPOSED NEW BUILDING. One of the last acts of the outgoing Ministry was to authorise the construction of tho new Dominion Museum, which is to leplace the present old structure, on the site now occupied by the Parliamentary tennis courts. ft would appear, however, that the decision will either have. to be revised or will entail a reconstruction of the policy laid down some time ago in regard to th& provision of departmental offices to tak& tho place of tho big wood«n building on Lambton-quay, which site, in the scheme outlined, was to b& leased for business purposes. That scheme contemplated the erection of departmental* buildings on the area of land fronting Sydnevstreei, including the tennis courts and that adjoining the present General Assembly Library, but If the tennis courts Me to be d&V&ted to the new museum *s evident that the scheme has been abandoned, or that the possibilities have not been fully considered. It Is suggested, on the other hand, that the site now occupied by the museum will be considerably enlarged by the scheme now being carried out Th connection with the new Parliament Buildings., The present museum is te> be thrown into the museum grounds, and the road from the Terrace taken through the existing Parliament Buildings grounds in a straight line, and it is urged that that would giva ample, accommodation for the new museum, providing that temporary provision could b« made for the exhibits while the permanent and improved structure is being erected. *
