The manager telegraphed on Monday afternoon the result of the crushing i — "1360z of melted gold from 30 loads of general ore, and 401b of picked stone.— Star. 1 MANAGERS' REPORTS. Occidental Consolidated.— No. 1> crosscut is in 80ft from the main drive. An> other 20ft should intersect No. 2 reef. The country, is of a good class, with Suartz stringers running through it. The rive on No. 2 reef has been advanced another 3ft. ' The reef is in two parts, there being about 9in of quartz on each side of the drive, the>" middle being a mixture of country and quartz veins. The quartz broken out showed some good dabs of gold, and all of it is being saved for crushing. A few pounds of picked stone were got from the back of the drive, near No. 2 crosscut, when cutting out ground to place timbers. Saxon. — Enlarging and retimbering the main shaft in the Saxon mine has been done to 452 ft below the collar, or right down to No. 6 level. There is still tinother 12ft to go to reach the bottom of the shaft; after that, sinking another 100 ft will be undertaken. Old Hauraki.— At the 400ft' level, No. 3 block, three slopes are in progress, and ■.colours of gold continue to be seen. At the 300 ft level, a chamber has been cut for ,a winze to be sunk, to connect with the 400 ft hxaL In No. 2 block, two stones are being .worked. The reef and country are favourable for gold. In No. 3 block, rising is in progress for slopes, and colours >f gold have been seen. Thames Deep Levels.— The contractors for the. .further, 1000 ft of extension of the main cregseut at ltfOOft added an> other 35ft to the tunnel during the week. Two small quartz bodies were cut, each about 6iu in width. Although one carries a little bright mineral, no gold was heen. Tho ground is favourable, and a little water is issuing from the face. Waitangi. — A little delay was caused in tho begining of the week, owing to a, breakdown with the air compressor, which retarded progress in the face. The main drive has been extended 14ft, making a total distance of 3271 ft. The reef is 3ft in width, and is going through a good class of country. A fifth sample of quartz was taken out of the reef in the main drive for a width of 3ft 6in at a point 124 ft from crosscut and a total distance of main drive 3257 ft, which gave the result of 2s 6d per ton. The crosscut has been extended 21ft, making a total distance of 174 ft from the main drive.
