MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Five cases of drunkenness were dealt with by Mr. A. Crooke, S.M.,> in the Magistrate's Court to-day. One first offender was convicted and discharged, three others had their bail estreated, and John O'Neill was penalised in the sum of 10s. Michael Koely was , sent to prison for one month, and also fined £3 for a breach of his prohibition order. For theft of £3 from. Frank Bird, in May last, William Thompson was fined £3, the alternative being fourteen days' detention. Bird gave Thompson the money to i>z-y into Court" in connection with a caso in which a man had been "fined £3. Thompson, t however, converted tho money to his own ute and cleared out to Auckland. Mr. Thomas -Bland, J.P., dealt with the following cases of drunkenness at the Mount Cook Police Court this morning. Ernest Clarke was fined 20s, the option being forty-eight hours' detention; John Pryce was fined 10s, with the usual option; Louie Maitland and one first offender were convicted and discharged. '
