OTAKI NOTES.
[BX TILXORAPH—SPECIAL TO THE POST.) OTAKI, This Day. ~ The vagaries of tbe weather are a never-failing topic of conversation, and the opinion of the past few weeks is,that they have been the most unseasonable for some considerable time. Sheltered localities are favoured < .with grass in abundance, but in exposed .places the growth is not so good, and consequently the milk yield is not what it should bo. Fruit trees were laden with fruit, but the almost continuous winds hayo done much harm. Potato crops, on the whole, are good, and fortunately blight is conspicuous /by its almost entire absence. Shearing has progressed slowly, and in a number of cases the clips havo not been as good as in previous years. Peas are selling here at Is 4d per peck, a fall of 2d within a week, while new potatoes, chiefly from the Auckland district, are selling at 81b for Is. The Catholic bazaar, which had been in progress for over-a, week, terminated last evening, after a very successful season.
