Kent-Johnston as clerk was accepted with regret, and it was decided to place on record the board's high appreciation of the valuable services he had rendered the board. From three applicants for the vaoant position Mr. A. C. Holms was appointed. The Wellington Acclimatisation Society has liberated 15,000 rainbow trout in the streams throughout this distriot. The local bowlers will play their first Booth Challenge Cup fixture this season on Thursday, when two rinks will journey to Greytowu. •. * Shearing operations are now in progress throughout the district, and large consignments of wool are being forwarded to Wellington.; The season is somewhat later "than usual, *
