Captain Anderson; who was in charge of the Norwegian barque Maxgib when 6he was wrecked earlier this month thirty miles north of Kingston, attributes the-disaster to the current. When it became apparent that the vessel was hard and fast, the ship's company, with the ship's papers, boarded a lifeboat and fruitlessly attempted a landing, but had to return to the ship. A heavy sea smashed the lifeboat, and the ship's papers were lost. The crew landed in another boat.
