Five minutes after play began Morse, with a dodgy run, beat Nelson backs an 3 scored, Dunning converting. Ma«on re duced the margin sooh after by kicking a goal from a . mark. The visitor* pressed for a while, then Rukutai scored. Dunning again converted, and the score was 10 to 2 in Auckland's favour. Then Cederman scored two tries and converted them, Nelson leading by 12 to 10. Before the spell ended, Spragne put Auckland in the lead with a try, the score at half-time being 13 to 12 in , Auckland's favour. In the second epell Nelson lost all the brilliance they displayed in the I first half, aaid the combination of the home team proved 100 good, with the Result that the latter put on 23 points while Nelson failed to score again, the final score being— Auckland 36, Nelson 12. WANGANUI v. SAWKES BAY. WANGANUI, 26th August. The Northern League match, Hawkee Bay V. W&ngauui, was played in Cook'e Gardens tOday, m fine weather.
