At the instance of Mr. Herries, a return bas been presented to Parliament snowing; tho acreage of land purchased by the Crown from the hativos each year sinos the resumption of purchase in 1905, together with the area opened for settlement and also that area occupied by Europeans under tho provisions of the Land Act, The figures are as follows — Opened for j Area Purchased.
