RIOTS IN WELSH TOWNS.
MANY SHOPS LOOTED. I CONFLICTS WITH* SOLDIERS AND | , POLICE. LONDON, 22nd August. Further anti-Jsw^eh riots have taken place at Tredegar, in Monmouthshire. Gangs of roughs threw stones and bottles at the police, and a. fierce fight followed. Many of the riotewt were injured by baton charges bj the constables, and a dozen wer& taken to the hospital. The Riot Act was read. Soldiers with fixed bayonets marched through the principal thoroughfares, and the rioters took refuge in side street*, from which they stoned the military. Many left the town and crossed the ! mountain into Ebbw Vale. Hesr© eeveral large Jewish shops war* wrecked and 1 looted. i On the military arriving the plunderers hurriedly quitted the ehopsi The soldiers and police assembled out» side the police station, and the Riot Act was read. The police and military then charged and cleared thp streets. Another section of the earns gang looted nearly every shop in Rhymney, a few miles south-west of Tiwdegar. Order was finally restored everywhere. GRIEVANCES AGAINST THE JEWS. THIRTY PEOPLE IN HOSPITAL.
