I ATTENDED BY MR. ASQUITS. i SHEFFIELD MeTsECCRE A SUBSTANTIAL ADVANCE. \ LONDON. 22nd August. Th* Prim© Minister, Mr, Asquith, met representatives of the Tr»mw*y Owners' Association and the United Cartel*' Association at Manchester, but the conference was fruitless. A strike -of four thousand' barters *t Sheffield has beett settled on the basis of a substantial advance. Two charges arising from Saturday's rioting at Chesterfield station ha.v% been withdrawn. Five others were dismissed, i but fifteen, persons were committed for trial. No railwaymeft are involved.
