DIVORCE SOUGHT.

AUCKLAND, 22nd August. In the Divorce Court to-day Kathleen, Agnes Edwards, now residing at Epsom, applied for dissolution of marriage from Arthur Laekie Edwards, on the ground of desertion. The petitioner, a well-dYeMed woman of youthful appearance, said she was married in 1892 in Auckland, and after marriage she lived with respondent in Auckland. There wae otic. child, a girl, which* had been born in 1893, and who was now in witness's custody. Some time after th« child wae born her husband went to England, and re» ftirned to Auckland three yews later. She had understood that he would only be away six months. Hi« partner, Mr. Gilfillan, had insisted on respondent dissolving partnership on account of hie intemperate habits. Her husband resumed business as a-n agent for British manufacturers, but the business was not a success. He left again for England in June, 1901, and said he would only be away for six months. He did not return ; he had, simply abandoned them both. His Honour said he could not grant a decree until the service of notice , 6f the proceedings on respondent in England had been formally proved. DUNEDIN, 22nd August. Decrees nisi were granted to-day ift th« following divorce cases {—Marion, Moriand v. John Morland, desertion.; John Reynolds v. Alice Reynolds, desertion.
