LAWN TENNIS.
MEETING OF THE NEW ZEALAND EXECUTIVE. Mr. G. Hurley presided afc a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association last evening. It was decided that a team of six lady players from Australia be invited to visit New Zealand and play_ matches in Wellington either immediately before or after the Davis Cup contest to be held in Christchurch on a date yet to be fixed at the end of the year, It is considered that most of the lady visitors interested in the Davis Cup will be passing " through Wellington either before of after the, big event, when an opportunity would occur of playing a. few t games. This would givethe local tennis authorities a chance to return the hospitality the Ne-w Zealand ladies,' team enjoyed in Sydney a couple of years ago. A« the result of the decision to hold tho Davis Cup contest at Christchurch, the Canterbury delegated will 'move at the next meeting of the council that the New Zealand tennis championships be held elsewhere than in Christchurch. The Otago Association had applied for the championships before they were allocated to Christchurch, so that it is probable that if any change is made they will be played in Dunedin.
