EAST COAST RAILWAY.
GTSBORNJi, 28th July. At the quartet ly meeting of the* Chamber of Commerce to-day, the following resolution was parsed :—«" That thio Chamber will gladly co-operate v,'ith the jN'apicr Chamber in urging tho comincilcement of the tlisboj-ne-lva.pier rail' way, on the condition that the Napier" Chamber will join us in our efforts to get the line commenced simultaneously at both ends." The resolution was passed in response to a request from tho Napier Chamber for co-operation with tho view to getting a substantial sum placed on the estimates this session for t-ha immediate start of the Jfapiei'-Gis-borne portion of the East Coaet railway from the southern end, and that a. deputation from tho Chambers be arranged to wait. on tho Premier or Minister of l J ub« lie Works at a. later date.
