MUNICIPAL ABATTOIR.
MONTHLY REPORT. The monthly report of the working of the municipal abattoirs lirs been presented by the managef {lit. J. C. Mackley) to the City Council. It states that during the month of June the following stock' was slaughtered at the abattoir: Cows, 245 ; bullocks and heifers, SH ; bulls, 11; shcop, 4422; lambs, 207; pigs, 30 ; calves, 28. Out of .that number 27 cow*, H bullocks, one bull, and 24 sheep were condemned as unfit for human consumption. Tho fees received on stock slaughtered amounted to £160 16s, a decreast of £3 Is on the previous month. The fees received from meat export slaughterhouses on meat gold within tho area amounted to £147 7s od, => n increase of 18s compared with May. The sum collected on the sals of offal, etc., Was £119—a decrease oi £6 for the month. Including all sources ot revenue, the total amount received for the month was £445. j There was an increase in thetslaugh- ' terirtg for the month of 41 rattle and 28 pigs, and a decreavse o f 362 sheep, 121 lambs, and 2t esilvcs. The stock slaughtered was of pnme quality, with the exception of 200 cows and ll bulls, slaughtered for boning purposes. The increase of stock slaughtered for June last compared with June, 1910, was 477 cattle, 2057 sheep, and 17 pigs; while there was a decrease of 43 lambs and 6 calves. Tho fees for stock slaughtered at the abattoir increased by £82. There was a decrease in fees received from meat export slaughterhouses amounting to £70 8s 6d.
