' RETURNS FOR JUNE QUARTER, ' A statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Consolidated Fund for the quarter ended 30th June, is published in this week's Gazette. The period began with a balance of . £586,485, and ■fended with a net balance of £498,535.Tho ordinary revenue for the quarter .amounted to i02.154.0ki3. and the territorial revenue to £84,272. On the expenditure side, tho permanent appropriations amounted to J81,167,7 f ivs, the an,nual appropriations to £1,168,872, debentures renewed £2000. ' The Public Works Fund opened the quarter with a balance of £1.140,045, ,4ad ended with a balance of £969,741. lf Wie sum of £166.671 was expended on railways. £67,604 on public buildings, £66,713 on roads, bridges, and other public work*, and £21,017 011 telegraph extension.
