LONDON MARKETS.

HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Commerce and Tourists Division of the Department of Agriculture, Commerce and Tourists has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, 13th ! April, 1911. (Note. — Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot). Mutton. — The_ market is quiet. Trade is very disappointing, there being only a very hand-to-mouth demand. Canterbury 3|d per lb, North Island 3£d per lb. Lamb. — There is a good demand on account of Easter. Canterbury 5d per lb, other than Canterbury 4§d per lb. Beef. — The market is depressed on account of supplies of River Plato beef being heavy. Supplies of American chilled beef are large. New Zealand hinds 4d, New Zealand fores 2|d per lb. Butter. — The market is very firm for best quality. Choicest New Zealand butter 109s per cwt. Cheese. — The cheeEe market is very firm. New Zealand 63s per cwt. Kauri Gum. — The market_ is quiet and small business doing. Ordinary to fair threequarter-ecraped, £8 10sg fair halfscraped, £5 ss ; brown fair half to 'three-quarter-scraped, 85s; brown pickings, common to good, 40s; bush fair to good pale and amber scraped, £8 ss. Stock 309 tons.
