The report of the Union Senate's committee on the subject of closer settlement advocates the raising of loans aggregating half a million pounds sterling annually, to enable settlers to acquire farms. It also urges that immediate steps be taken to secure a desirable class of settlers from overseas, and lava down the Erinciplo that railway expansion should 0 considered conjointly with land settlement.
