BANNER AGAIN WON BY THORNDON. The local v/ater-polo oom^lition (A class) was concluded at the To Aro Baths on Saturday afternoon, when Swifts and Tliorxidon playod a. drawn game. The result is that fhorndon (last year's winners) retains the banner. The match was, perhaps, tho most strenuous contest yet seen here, and try how it could neither side Y/as able to score. However, the match was chiefly noticeaale for the taciics adopted by Thomson's goslkceper (H. W. Kirkwccd). Every time this player secured the ball ha 'held it for a prolonged period — at one time lor as long as 70sec. B Class. In the B class competition Wellington II and Swifts met, and the result was a win for the former by two goals to one. M'Lean and Ford were successful for the ■winners, and P. Wilton for the losers. The other gam© in this division — Thorndon v. Wellington I—was1 — was postponed. In both, games mentioned above Mr. Q. Sadd.was referee*
