♦ A RECORD BROKEN. fBT IBLBGBAPH — PBESS ASSOCIATION.} AUCKLAND, 4th December. ! At the Amateur Athletic Club's sports held yesterday, W G. Harding, of Napier, defeated G, N. Hill, of Auckland, by 5 yards in the 1000 yards invitation race, in the time "of 2min 20 2-ssec. This beats tho New Zealand record of 2min 24 l-ssec, and is more meritorious than the figures suggest by reason of the fact that the track was wet, as the result of hea-vy/iain on Friday night and Saturday morxiiner.
