Mr. Ben Tillett, the Socialist, and secretary of the Dock Workers' Federation, in a letter to the voters of Shields and Walthamstow, advises them not to accept Liberal promises. [The South Shields seat is vacant by tho elevation of Sir W. S. Robson to the Bench. For Walthamstow, Mr. J. A. Simon has to seek re-election on. accepting office as Solicitor-General.] MR. REDMOND AND DEVOLUTION. A REPUDIATION. (Received October 18, 10.5 a.m.) [ LONDON, 17th October. * Owing to the newspapers repeating Mr. Redmond's alleged statement in America in favour of devolution, Mr. Redmond has cabled to the United Irish Lea-gue an entire irepudiation. REFUTATION REFUTED. (Received October 18, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, 17th October. Mr. O'Brien, Nationalist member for Cork, states that the suggestion that Mr. Redmond's favouring of devolution was an invention would not deceive anybody, Was dispelled by the fact that Mr. T. P. O'Connor made a declaration almost identical in terms in Canada the same day. Mr. Redmond was accused by Mr. W. O'Brien of changing his views on Home Rule, amd subordinating Irish interests to the question of the House of Lords' veto.
