GOVERNMENT PLEDGE REQUIRED. LONDON, 17th October. A. conference of Trade Unionists acd Socialists at Walthamstow resolved tha,t unless Mr. J. R. 1 Simon (who is seeking re-election on being appointed Solicito 1 - General) pledged the Government to give trade unions absolute control over their own funds for Parliamentary purposes they would fight him. The conference controls two thousand votes.
