PETONE AND HUTT ITEMS. LOWER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council was held last evening those attending being the Mayor {Mr.£. P. Bunny), and Councillors Ckre, Hawthorn, Pearce, Hayes, Barlow, Jfacaskijl, and Baldwin. Mr. R. Walker (Belmont) wrote, stating that he believed the council had under consideration the- establishment of a stone quarry for Lower Hutt. Clarke, A.C.A., of the W«U lington City Council's Auditing Department, forwarded a lengthy report, in which he made many recommendations in regard to the book-keeping system, and in concluding, paid a tribute to the Hutt Council's staff. He thanked Mr. Purser Mr. Rbt-Trott, and their assistant* for tb© assistance they had afforded him.. ' With regard to the treasurer o office, Mr. Clarke stated that the books were well kept, and abreast of the current work. This, he continued, reflected great credit on Mr. Purser and his assistant, Mr. Gardiner, and he was satis, fied that in the circumstances their duties could not have been more eatis* factorily performed.
