SWIMMING.

THORNDON CLUB. In Armit's Rooms last evening waa held the fourteenth annual meeting of the Thorndon Swimming Club. Mr. T. Ronayne presided, and there was a fair attendance of members. The annual report and balance-sheet, as previously published in The Post, were adopted. Several new members were elected. The following, officers were elected :—: — Patron, Sir Joseph Ward; president, Mr. T. Ronayne j vice-presidents, Drs. A. Izard aud A. L. Anderson. Messrs. FI. Lee, J. P. Maxwell, C. Toogood, ' H. Bea-uchamp, J. E. Henrys, H. Nelson, W. C. Gasquoine, S. Brice, and L. W." Ludwig; handicapper and darter, Mr. H. Henderson; captain, Mr. R. Healy; vice-captain, Mr. E. Pieot: hon. auditor, Mr. A. T. Clark; committee, Messrs. A. W. Smith, D. Joslyn. F. Roberts. 11. W. Kirkwood, G. F. M'Kollur, C. Brice. A. St. Clair. and Colin A. Mac Donal d; lion, secretary, Mr. E. O. Aickiu ; hon. treasurer, Mr. K. Wiggans. The question of the classification of swimmers was discussed, and eventually referred to the committee. There- was also a general discussion oil life-savins;. It was mentioned that f lasses had been started a.t the baths ; but it was thought it would be better if the committee secured the use of a room for, say, two nights a week. The committee is to endeavour to carry out the suggestion. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring handicapper and treasurer (Mr. W. B. Smith), who, it wa3 ataied, had rendered valuable aid to the club.
