CRICKET.
WEDNESDAY ASSOCIATION. Mr. J. J. Weybourne presided at the annual meeting of the Wellington Wednesday Cricket Association last evening. The annual report mentioned that the Artillery team again won the senior championship for the Simmondsand Osborne Shield, aud the Vivian team the Winder Cvp — a junior trophy. The financial position was considered satisfactory, the association coming out with a small balance to credit. Officers were elected as follow :—: — Patron, Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P. j president, Mr. C. H. Izard ; vice-president, Dr. Anderson ; honorary vice-presidents, Drs. Herbert and Martin, Messrs. H. C. Triekett, M. Cable, Len. M'Keuzie, W. Dunca-n, W. M'lntosh, T. Shields, P. W. Corby, and J. Weybourne; chairman, Mr. W. Duncan ; secretary, Mr. J. C. Cusack j treasurer, Mr. • K. J. Crichton ; senior selection committee, Messrs. J. O'Sullivsni, S. M. Dempsey, W. J- Mackay ; junior selection committee, Messrs. A. J. \V\lliamson, G. Mackay, W. Duncam ; ground committee, Messrs E. M'Gill, J. J. Sullivan, J. t;. Cusack; auditor, Mr. W. Reid. Mr. J. Weybourne received the bat < presented by Messrs Duncan and Macintosh for the highest individual score during the season. For all senior teams, J. Weyboume (Artillery) headed the batting averages, with 30.4, and M'Fadzean (Vivian), 55.3, in the juniors. Bowling, Dr. M'Evedy (Rivals), with 6.5 runs_ per wicket (seniors), and B. Ryan (Vivian), 3.80, won the honours. _ JUNIOR ASSOCIATION. At the seventeenth annual meeting of the Junior Cricket Association, Mr. Becker was in the chair. The championship cup was awarded to the Selwyn A Club. Several important amendments were made to the rules, including one which makes the association open to allcomers. It -was decided to form two clabses this season, and to grade the teams accordingly. Owing to his leaving the Dominion, Mr. Schmidt, who has for many years held the position of secretary and treasurer to the association, tendered his resignation. This was accepted with regret, the meeting placing on record Mr. Schmidt's valuable services to the association. The balance-sheet showed an excess of assets over liabilities of £15 14s. A very successful reason was anticipated for the coming year. It was decided to commence play on Islh October. It was stated that tho association had room for the admission of two or three clube.
