MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
"This is the third occasion on which accused has broken this order your Worship," mentioned Sub-Inspeotor Norwood in the Magistrate's Court to-day regarding a piohibiled person named Thomas M'Laughlin, appearing oa charges of disobeying the injunction and intemperance. Accused expressed a. desire to "clear Home," but the presiding magistrate, Mr. W. R. ffaselden, before letting him go inflicted a fine of £2, treating the two offence? as practically the same. Penalty for default was fixed at 14 days' imprisonment. Other intemperate individuals dealt with included some previous offenders, viz., Florence .M'Anally, who was fined 40s, in default 14 days' imprisonment, j and Denis Downey and George Leonard, I fetich mulcted in "the sum of 10s. Tha alternative in the last named cases was 48 hours' imprisonment 1 . I John Gibbard admitted being both intoxicated and having refused to leave the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel when ren quested to do so. HLs case was met [ with fines, of 10s in each instance, ths I option being 48 hours' imprisonment. Four lust offending inebriates were cott* victed and discharged. ' A young man named John Griffiths was charged with breaking and entering by day the house of James G. Bennett and stealing £1 12s. It was mentioned j by the police that probably a couple of other charges of a similar nature would -c brought against accused, who was remanded until next Wednesday. Bail was allowed in the sum of £40 and twq suigfcies of £20 each*
