FATAL COLLISION AT ISLAND BAY.
YOUTHFUL CYCLIST KILLED. A youthful cyclist named Roy Cornish, who met with ( a serious accident at Island Bay on Saturday evening, died in the hospital yesterday morning. The injuries were sustained in a collision with a pedestrian on a steep grade on the Island Bay-road, Odlin's Loop. Almost simultaneously deceased, collided with Mr. Fenton, who 1 was thrown heavily, while the immediate effect on Cornish was to precipitate him violently to tho roadway. Both the pedestrian and the cyclist were rendered unconscious. Mr. Fenton was removed to Dr. Deanier's residence suffering from concussion and several broken ribs. Cornish was placed on a passing tramcar, bleeding from the nose and ears. He was removed to the hospital, apparently fatally injured. It was found he was suffering from a serious fracture of the base of the skull, and he succumbed early yesterday morning as stated. Mr. Fenton, at onetime in the service of the Bank of New Zealand, is progressing as well as can be expected, but it will be some time before he can get about again.
