Petone (8) defeated Oriental (nil) after a very hard-fought game. Daly and Ashton scored, the latter converting his own try. Wellington (11) beat Southern (3). Reiily and Wallace scored tries (one converted), and Sheridan kicked a penalty goal for the winners. Hayes scored for the losers. St. John's (13) v. Melrose (0). Fawcett, Williams, and M'Leay scored tries, Dyett converting two. St. James (9) v. Athletic (0). THIRD CLASS Petone defeated Exchange by 29 to nil. The scorers were : —Hagen, Mooney, Corson, Hill, and Matlin. Instone converted one try. Wellington defeated St. John's by 9 points io nil. Tries were scored by Forne, Westerman, and O'Meara. The ground was almost a quagmire, and the play was totally forward. Jvarori (9) v. Wellington (6). FOURTH CLASS. Petone 5, Old Boys 3. Arrowsmith scored one try for Petone, and Denby converted. FIFTH CLASS. Athletic 6, Petone 3. This was Petone's first defeat this year. Melrose defeated Wellington College Aby 10 points to 9. Gray scored and converted a try, and Dee also crossed the line, the score being enhanced by Helliwell. DISTRICT GAMES. [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL TO THE POST.] FEILDING, 2nd July. Alhambra (13) defeated Zingari Richmond (3). Southern (6) beat Taieri Rovers (3). Union (6) beat Pirates (3). University (16) beat Dunedin (6). Port Chalmers (5), beat Kaikorai (nil).
