The Porte has issued a fresh Note to the Powers regarding the Cretan question. DECISION OF CRETAN ASSEMBLY. EXCLUSION OF MOHAM- • MEDANS. LONDON, 21st May. A decision arrived at by the Hellenic majority in the Cretan Assembly, on the motion, of the President, to exclude Mohammedan members of the Assembly, is> causing excitemertt in Turkey. The Turkish newspapers demand that since the protecting Power's (Britain, France, Russia, and Italy) do not safeguard Ottoman rights, the Turkish naval squadron should present an ultimatum to the Cretan insurgents.
