WANGANUI TRAINING NOTES. [BY TELEGE.APH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI, This Day. The weather continues fine for training operations. A large number of visiting horses arrived yesterday, including Waitapu, Pharos, Golden Loop. Compass, Patrobus, Merry Lawn, Waikaiaka, Wimmera, Maori King, and Bridge. Some good work was done this morning. Boanerges had the better of St. Bill over six furlongs, run in lmin 18sec, Nyland taking lmin 20seo for the same distance. St. Felix covered half a mile in 54sec. Playmate did two rounds on the plough, and Voca, Overtime, and First Consul five furlongs in lmin 4J;6ee, the former having slightly the best of the go. Stourton occupied lmin 6see. Compass and Merry Lawn jumped five hurdles fairly well. Millpond (Telford) and Aorangi (Williams) cleared six hurdles splendidly. Research and John hopped off at the mile-post, Patrobus joining in at mx furlongs and The Lark at half a mile. John galloped well, and finished in front, Research being beaten off. John's time was lmin 50sec. Continuance, Paisano, and Pearl Reef were associated in a couple of rounds over schooling hurdles, the two former giving a capital exhibition of jumping. Pearl Reef shaped indifferently. Lovell went once round over the fences, clearing obstacles remarkably well. TAKAPUNA MEETING. AUCKLAND, This Day. The Takapuua Jockey Club's winter meeting is' proceeding in fine weather. Results :—: — Handicap Maiden Plate.—Soultoria, 1; Electrakoff, 2; Flying Soult, 5. Scratched—Flying Cloud, Maroon and Black, Spectre, Siola, and Belle Napier. W r on by a head. Time, lmin 33 2-ssec. Empire Handicap, of 250 .W;,; one mile and a quarter.—Sea Elf, 7.9, 1; Uranium, 7.13, 2; Sir Artegal, 7.13, 3. All started. Won by three lengths. Time, 2min. lG^ec.
