WON BY AUCKLAND. [BY TELECBAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The university debate in connection with the annual contests between tho colleges was held last night before a, largo audience. Canterbury College debated againbt Victoria and Auckland against Otago. The subject was :— That training and education provided by such a university as ours is the best preparation for a commercial or an industrial career. The judges placed Auckland first, and Otago second. Of the winners Marshall scored in matter, Algie in manner. The debating generally was of a high order, but the judges were of opinion that tc-o free use was made of notes.
