LATE SPOTTING.
Tho Hutt Valley Trotting Club will hold a meeting on Boxing Day and New Year's Day, and is offering £650 in stakes. Nominations close on Bth December with the secretary, Mr. R. W. Short, Petone. Anglican (9.12) should be included in the weights for the City Handicap, to be run at Miramar next Saturday. In addition to the names appearing in another column, To Ei has been nominated for tho two five-furlong races at Waikanae. The next meeting of the Hutt Park Eacing Club will be held on Saturday, 18th inst., and Wednesday, 29th inst. Tho sum of 400 soys will be given in stakes. Messrs. Dwan Bros, report having sold -Mr. William Hunter's interest in the lease and goodwill oX the Commercial Hotel, Havelock, Marlborough, to Mr. John Campbell, well known in the local carrying business ; the lease and goodwill of the Post Office Hotel, Picton, to Mr. Thomas Green, late of the Agricultural Department, Wellington, on account of Mr. R. J. Paul; Mr. J. F. Meagher's interest in the Clarendon Hotel, Wa-verlev, to Mrs Kavanagh, late of the Post Office Hotel, Palmerston North; the lease of the Club Hotel, Suva, Fiji, on account of Mr. Marks to Mr. Barnes, of Christchurch ; the lease, furniture and goodwill of the Post Office Hotel, Collingwood, on behalf of Mr. M. C. O'Connell to Mr. H. S. Meads, of the Wairarapa; the lease, furniture and goodwill as a going concern of the Columbia Private Hotel, Lower Cuba street, to Mr. P. T. Lyons of this city, who is now conducting the business ; the lease of the Club Hotel, Carterton r to Mr. E. J. Paul, late of the Post Office Hotel, Picton. Messrs Dwan Bros, also report having sold three level sections freehold at Maranui, situated opposite the store 1 , to Mr. Milligan, of Wellington ; also two sections at Maranui to Mr. P. Connell, of Kilbirnie; also a block of land opposite the Palmerston North railway station, together with "four houses facing Willisstreet, at the back of the property, and 9^ acres at Terrace End to Mr. Thomas Weston, of New Plymouth. The annual distribution of prizes at St. Patrick's Collego will take place at 8 p.m. next AVednesday. The cadets rifle meeting will be held at Trontham on "Wednesday. An invitation is -issued to parents to attend the meeting. At 2 o'clock to-morrow Messrs. Levien, Shallcrass and Co. will sell by public auction, in their rooms, Willis-street, houßOhold furniture of two houses,, removed to tho firm's rooms for convenience of sale. Mesßrs. Harcourt and Co. announce in our advertising columns that they will sell by public auction, at ' their rooms, 195, Lambtoiuquay, to-morrow, at 2.30 p.m., section 17, having a frontage of 66ft to Orangi Kaupapa-road by a depth averaging alwut 79ft, containing an area of 20.4 perches (moro or less), together with the four-roomed dwelling erected thereon. On Thursday the firm will sell, at 11 a.m., at No. 102, Tinakori-road, household furniture and appointments, contents of eight rooms ; and at 2.30 p.m., the residence will be sold on the spot, at No. 102, Tinakori-road. An attractive programme has been arranged for the" excursion to Day's Bay on Wednesday evening. Tho &.s. Duchess will leavo town at 7.45 o'clock,- returning from the Bay at 10 p.m. A band will play selections on board, and on arrival at the Bay an entertainment will ba given in the pavilion. •
